Independent retailers power more of American retail that you and I would like to imagine in the age of 1-Click Amazon shopping. I found some interesting stats on this post that I am bulletizing here:

• Independent retail (<10 stores> generates $900 Billion in annual sales (2018)
• 95% of all US retailers have only 1 store location
• Over 600,000 retailers earn < $1 Million in revenue each year
• Local stores account for half of U.S. consumers’ shopping trips
• Specialty retail is the fastest growing category of offline commerce
